## Questions

- [What does a Copilink backup contain?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/what-does-a-copilink-backup-contain): A backup contains the local Copilink database state used for settings, profiles, and stored history. It excludes broker passwords and authorization secrets, but it can still contain sensitive trading and account-related data.
- [Does restoring a backup merge it with current data?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/does-restoring-a-backup-merge-data): No. Restore replaces this computer's history and settings; it does not merge. Stop copying, make broker exposure safe, and export a current backup first. When you choose the backup file, Copilink checks it and prepares the restore straight away, without a second confirmation. It backs up your current data and applies the restore at the next start.
- [Does uninstalling Copilink delete local data?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/does-uninstalling-delete-local-copilink-data): The released documentation does not claim an uninstall data outcome because it is not verified across supported installers. Create a backup and record the data-folder location before uninstalling or repairing the app.
- [Which notifications and sounds are supported?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/which-notifications-and-sounds-are-supported): Desktop notifications work on Windows and macOS when the operating system allows them, and only while Copilink is not the focused window. An alert sound can play for critical or warning problems. Audio notifications add spoken cues for things like a fill, a rejected order, a failed copy, accounts out of sync, a risk limit, or a lost connection. Each cue has its own switch and a Play button, and a master switch mutes them all.
- [How do Copilink Standalone updates work?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/how-do-copilink-app-updates-work): Installed production packages check at startup and about every four hours. An available package can download in the background, then waits in Ready to restart until you deliberately restart Copilink.
- [Can an update restart while a follower profile is active?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/can-an-update-restart-while-a-profile-is-active): No. The update restart is blocked while a profile is active. Stop new leader activity, make broker exposure safe, disable the profile, wait for it to become inactive, and verify positions and working orders before restarting.
- [Is it safe to update with open positions?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/is-it-safe-to-update-with-open-positions): Do not assume it is safe. Disabling a profile or restarting Copilink does not flatten open positions, and cleanup of working orders can fail. Manage exposure deliberately and verify every position and working order at the broker before and after restart.
- [What does Trading day mean in Copilink?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/what-does-trading-day-mean-in-copilink): Risk rules use a session in a named time zone, by default America/Chicago with a 4:00 p.m. close. The hour after the close is always a maintenance break, so the next session starts at 5:00 p.m. and you only set the close. Dashboard and Trade log dates are different: they run midnight to midnight in your Journal & analytics time zone.
- [Can I turn Live P&L off?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/can-i-turn-live-pnl-off): No. Live market-data P&L is always on, because it is the fastest input your P&L limits can have. The only switch is the Tradovate snapshot fallback under Settings → Live P&L, which kicks in when no live quote is available.
- [Should I turn Tradovate snapshot P&L off?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/should-i-turn-tradovate-snapshot-pnl-off): Usually leave it on. It is the fallback Copilink uses when an open Tradovate account has no live quote: it asks Tradovate for an account-wide balance snapshot, one account at a time, and shows Reduced protection. It is slower than live quotes and each update uses one Tradovate API request. Turn it off only if you run many Tradovate accounts and want that API budget for trading, and you accept that P&L-based limits will not be checked for those accounts whenever there is no live feed. Copying keeps working either way.
- [What does Screenshot privacy do?](https://copilink.com/standalone/faq/settings-data-and-updates/what-does-screenshot-privacy-do): It swaps the account and connection names in the main tabs for stable Copilink aliases, so you can share a screenshot without showing which prop firm or account is which. Your trading IDs, saved data, and what gets sent to the broker do not change. Turn it off again to see the real names.
