Connect Tradovate

Tradovate uses a browser authorization flow. Demo and Live are separate environments, so choose the environment that contains the accounts you intend to use.

Prerequisites

  • A Tradovate login that can see and trade the intended accounts.
  • A working default browser.
  • Market-data entitlements for the contracts you plan to monitor.

Choose Demo or Live

Open Connections → Add connection → Tradovate. Choose Demo OAuth for the simulation environment or Live OAuth for the live environment. The authorizations and market-data entitlements are separate.

Authorize in the browser

  1. Open authorization

Choose Demo OAuth or Live OAuth. Copilink opens Tradovate in the default browser and waits for a local return.

Success: The browser displays the Tradovate authorization page for the selected environment.

If not: If no browser opens, check the default-browser setting and retry from a fresh Add connection dialog.

  2. Approve access

Sign in to Tradovate, confirm the environment, and approve access.

    Success: The browser reports success.

If not: A denial, closed page, invalid return, or timeout leaves the connection unready. Start a new flow instead of reusing the old page.

  3. Return to Copilink

Return to the desktop application within the authorization window and wait for account discovery.

Success: The connection row shows Connected and the expected accounts appear.

If not: If the browser reports success but Copilink does not return, check whether security software blocks local links, retry once, then contact support.

Auto-reconnect and expired authorization

Turn on Auto-reconnect if Copilink should attempt the saved link at startup. Auto-reconnect still needs valid authorization. Sign-in required or Authentication failed means you must repeat the browser flow for the same Demo or Live environment.

Tradovate authorization is stored in the operating system's secure credential storage on this device. It is not included in a Copilink data backup, so a restored or new computer requires authorization again.

Confirm accounts and market data

Tradovate readiness checks
ConnectedThe broker session is open and accounts can be discovered.Confirm the expected accounts and market-data label.
Sign-in requiredSaved authorization is missing, expired, or rejected.Run the correct Demo or Live OAuth flow again.
Account missingThe login, environment, or broker permission does not expose it.Reconnect, verify Demo/Live, then ask Tradovate or the prop firm about access.
Market data WaitingAccess or the first required quote is being checked.Wait briefly, then confirm symbol, expiry, and entitlement.
Market data UnavailableThe feed denied or cannot supply required quotes.Verify exchange entitlement in the same environment and compare P&L at Tradovate.

What success looks like

  • The Tradovate row says Connected.
  • Only the expected Demo or Live accounts appear.
  • Market data becomes Available or Active when a permitted instrument needs a quote.

Troubleshooting

  • Browser does not return: start a new flow and check local-link handling or security software.
  • Authorization expired: reconnect and approve access again in the same environment.
  • Account missing: verify Demo versus Live, reconnect, then confirm account permission with Tradovate or the prop firm.
  • Market data unavailable: verify the exact contract, exchange subscription, and environment.
